How Do MLM Prospecting Scripts Work?
You want to accomplish a goal with network marketing – and that’s to make a connection with your prospect to share information about your business opportunity with them and get them to agree that they want to learn more. An MLM prospecting script might be what you’re looking for.
A prospecting script can be one that you’re given by the company, one you create yourself, buy from a website that sells them or look for a free version online. The free versions are pretty generic so you’d have to do some tweaking to get it to suit your needs.
What a script does is give you a format, a guideline to walk you through the conversation with a prospect from hello to goodbye. Keep in mind that the prospects don’t follow a script so (like actors) you might have to allow for some quick adjustments to what you’d planned to say.
You might get or find some prospecting scripts that give you some suggested questions. The scripts that phrase questions in such a way that you can get a no answer can lead to a dead end – it can kill the conversation before you even have a chance to present your business.
For example, don’t say, “Would you like to work from home?” Instead, change it to “How does the idea of being your own boss and working from home sound?” Because with the way the first question is phrased, if you get a no, you’ve got nothing else to offer except ‘why not’ and then you’re not having a conversation but rather the beginning of an argument.
What scripts do is allow you to engage with the prospect in a way that can put you at ease. Most people aren’t comfortable contacting strangers (even ones that show interest in MLM businesses) without having something to go by when they talk.
A script takes all the guesswork out of what to say and better yet, it puts you in the driver seat of being able to control the conversation. A planned talk is always better than one that you ‘wing’ as you go along.
A script should start by introducing you, reminding the prospect that he or she had shown interest in network marketing and what you’re doing is following up to see how you can help them get where they’d like to get.
When you use an MLM prospecting script, practice it first. Don’t come across like an over eager telemarketer – but don’t sound too rehearsed, either. Be relaxed, be yourself and let your confidence shine through.
