What Are Your Options?
Whitening your teeth is an option that more and more people are exploring these days, and as a result the breadth of options for teeth whitening methods has expanded. While it is true that there have been commercial “teeth whitening” toothpastes on the market for some time, this is more of a marketing play – for the most part, those pastes will only help to whiten your teeth as part of a full dental hygiene program.
What is available to you is as follows. Firstly, there is the option to have the whitening done on site by a dentist who will carry out the work in one visit, from the application of the mould to its removal and clean-up. This is the most expensive, but perhaps the most effective, method of teeth-whitening.
Secondly, you can purchase a whitening kit from your dentist and do the work yourself as per their directions. This will cost less than having the dentist do the job, and will perhaps be less effective, but you can be confident that the kit is at least dentist-approved and that their guidance will help you use the kit.
Finally, you can buy an over-the-counter teeth whitening kit from a pharmacy or similar which can be used as per the instructions that come with the kit. Due to the regulations on what can be sold over the counter, this may be the least effective option, but will also be the least expensive. If you just want a boost to tooth whiteness for a specific occasion, then this will be your best option.
